Since this webinar was recorded, the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has released a statement indicating they are delaying enforcement of PSD2 SCA requirements from March 14, 2021 by six months to September 14, 2021 due to the exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 crisis. The ultimate goal is to minimize potential disruption to both consumers and merchants.

That’s what’s really matters isn’t it? They also explained the benefits of EMV 3DS in meeting the 2nd Payment Services Directive (PSD2) requirement for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). Paul and Maggie addressed each of the following dates and mandates individually:

One big milestone to note: issuers located in the European region are going to be required by Visa to support EMV 3DS v 2.2 by September 14, 2020. This is in preparation for the enforcement of PSD2 SCA that will start at the end of 2020 and early 2021. That’s a big one.
