What if you had known in 2019 what we know now. From a pandemic to civil unrest - to a presidential election wrapping up in December - this was one doozy of a year, full of more twists and turns than we knew what to do with. But we made it.
And what we found out was - all was not lost. We were able to succeed and stay connected, always keeping our eyes on our customer’s needs and staying true to what we do.
We asked our employees to answer two questions, each with just one word.
-Describe Cardinal in 2020
- Describe 2021
We, like most companies, did a massive and quick pivot to working from home. Our IT team scurried to get everyone hooked up and functioning – from locations across the city, and across the globe. At home, we struggled to find workspaces that worked. People with kids - many being schooled virtually - adjusted to a new world and even now continue to find the balance.
At Cardinal, we rose to the challenge. Our leaders stepped up and calmed our fears. Communication was (and is) key. Teams learned to get together virtually – everything from drive-by birthday celebrations to sending “thinking of you thank yous” in the mail – virtual happy hours to virtual whiteboards - the name of the game was flexibility and staying connected. We found out that we were strong, as people and as a company, and that self-care was crucial to navigating the ever-changing world.
As we approach 2021, we continued to strive to do the best possible jobs serving our customers every single day. We continue to support and lift each other up and stay connected in new and different ways. We did our best, like all of you. Hopeful. Healing. Promising. Those are some of the words our employees chose for 2021. The rest you can see in the word cloud below.
From our family to yours - Happy Holidays! Wishing you a bright and hopeful 2021.
