Chandra Balasubramanian is Co-Founder, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Cardinal. Since the company’s founding in 1999, Chandra has led development efforts creating Cardinal’s patented, award-winning technologies. He is co-author of more than 20 of Cardinal’s patents. In his role, he continues to focus on new product development, using our technology platforms to bring innovations to the payments industry.
Under Chandra’s leadership, Cardinal created technology platforms to serve the payments industry including the industry-leading Universal Merchant Platform, Centinel, which processes millions of transactions per day. This was one of the first technologies to process payments securely in the cloud, using the proprietary Cardinal SafeCloudTM. Cardinal’s other platforms, 2IDentiFI for the financial services industry, and Cardinal MAX for the mobile channel, were developed under Chandra’s direction. With 2ID, financial institutions have been able to take advantage of Cardinal Consumer Authentication, as well as solutions to improve security and convenience for banks and their consumers. Cardinal MAX allows merchants and banks to connect quickly and easily with their consumers on their favorite devices, their mobile phones.
Chandra has been a contributor to EMVCo, as a technical associate, serving as an industry stakeholder to contribute his expertise to improve the EMV and 3-D Secure 2.0 specifications.
Today, Chandra leverages the Cardinal network to drive payments data intelligence using deep data analytics as he continues to lead Cardinal’s technology team in groundbreaking development. These efforts continuously add value to what Cardinal offers our Customers every day.
Prior to co-founding Cardinal, Chandra was the co-founder and Division Manager of QIS/Live TechSolutions. He began his career with Innovation Software Exports Ltd in Madras, India, and served as technical consultant for various organizations including PMH Caramanning, Inc, Hong Leong Bank and AIT Sdn Bhd.
Chandra has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Madras (India), and holds an Advanced Diploma in Systems Management from the National Institute of Information Technology and is a Microsoft Certified Professional.
